Star of Verjina Flag 1991-1995 [Ratio 1:2]
This flag, based on a symbol found in the tomb of Philip of Macedon (father of Alexander the Great) at Verjina, was changed after the Greek government objected to the Macedonians using what they claimed to be a wholly Greek symbol.

Notes:

In the United Nations, Macedonia is known as "The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia". This name is a compromise, after Greece objected to the name "Macedonia" on the grounds that it has a territory of the same name.
